Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma faces tough challenge at Augusta Masters

Woods is 13 shots behind yet sounded relieved to have made the cut while playing in his first major since back fusion surgery.

Either Reed, ranked 24th, or 16th-rated Leishman would be the fourth consecutive first-time major victor to capture the green jacket.

Patrick Reed hits to the 13th green during the second round at the Masters golf tournament Friday, April 6, 2018, in Augusta, Ga.

The way Reed has played, it's doubtful even Mother Nature can slow him down.

In Augusta, Woods played the first two rounds with 34-year-old Aussie Marc Leishman and 27-year-old Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who is easily recognized by his thick beard and long, flowing hair. He also needed just 51 putts through 36 holes.

"If I can drive like I did today, feeling wise, and hit those shots, give myself a chance, and if I clean up my iron play, I'm hitting so many lovely putts right around the hole", Woods said.

Leishman kept it close.

Right behind them? Five major champions, for starters. No one in Masters history has shot in the 60s all four rounds.

McIlroy - chasing the career Grand Slam - added a 1-under 71 to his 69 opener to sit 4 under.

There were only a handful of players under par on second day and that included Dustin Johnson two-under through four. Johnson had a 68 and was six shots behind, along with Thomas, who had a 67.

Woods, dressed all in black, was under par for all of one hole.

Like Woods, Reed competes in Sunday red - a ritual that has attracted criticism from some golf fans, who refuse to believe anyone other than the 14-time Major victor can "own" a Sunday colour.

"The par 5s are huge around here to be able to pick up ground on", Reed said.

"It was really windy out there and that's why you don't see too many low scores".

Woods played exactly like someone who hadn't played at the Masters because of injury since 2015. He has some mixed feelings about where he's at.

For the second day in a row Tiger Woods put his tee shot on No. 12 into Rae's Creek and suffered a bogey.

Patrick Reed shot a 6-under 66 Friday to take a two-shot lead at 9 under entering the weekend.

"I didn't hit the irons very good today at all".

"To win this tournament, you're going to have to take a chance at some point, and I felt like that was one where the reward was worth the risk", Leishman said. It's such a hard golf course to play catch up on. "Forget playing at the Tour level, I didn't know if I ever be playing again", he said.

All three of them shot 2 over in the second round and made the cut at golf's first major. His drive on No. 3 almost reached the green until it rolled back down the slope, and he hit a safe pitch to about 10 feet for birdie.

Mickelson, healthy and 47, was trying to become the oldest player to win the Masters, and was less philosophical. Mike Weir of Brights Grove, Ont., missed the cut with a two-round total of 11-over.

He showed it. At the final two holes, Woods knocked excellent approaches into the heart of the green, ensuring there were no concerns about bogeys. The Spaniard and new father hit five consecutive balls into the water at the par-5 15th.

Sergio Garcia's hopes of a second straight title went up in smoke - really more like down the slope - at the 15th hole.

Texas senior Doug Ghim, the 2017 U.S. Amateur runner-up, will blog about his first Masters experience on Golfweek.com this week. To be at the top of the amateur leaderboard and to make the cut at the Masters, I'm so honored.
