Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne votes Mohamed Salah to win PFA Award

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne votes Mohamed Salah to win PFA Award

Pep Guardiola's City side can seal the Premier League title in record time if they beat second-placed Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

De Bruyne is widely seen as the favourite for the trophy, having performed exceptionally during another dominant season with soon-to-be Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Belgium worldwide has played an integral role in helping City dominate in the Premier League, with Pep Guardiola's side needing just one more win to secure the title after already claiming the Carabao Cup.

However, before that, City face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, with De Bruyne and Silva lining up against Reds star Salah, who - like both City players - has been in prolific form this season.

De Bruyne thinks Salah fully deserves the award, but says it is "impossible" to compare himself with the Egyptian due to their different styles of play.

'I am very happy with myself, I am very pleased with how I have played, I didn't expect to be this good this season, to be honest'.

I wouldn't know how to choose anybody else outside of Salah if it's not (somebody from) our team. Since I came here he's been unbelievable.

In an interview with BT Sport ahead of tonight's fixture, De Bruyne was asked who he voted for and why: "I vote for Salah".

De Bruyne and Salah both failed to make the grade at Chelsea, shining in the Bundesliga and Serie A respectively before sealing Premier League returns, but the 26-year-old insists that common experience was not a factor in his voting decision. "If it's nobody from our team I think he deserves it".

"I played at the weekend like a defensive midfielder, so how you can compare me to an inside forward?"
