No special privileges for Salman Khan, says jail official

Jodhpur, Apr. 7 (Agencies): A district and sessions court on Saturday granted bail to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who was earlier sentenced to five years in jail on charges of poaching blackbuck in a wildlife preserve two decades ago. The actor's defense received a startling news when reports revealed that justice Joshi, who was hearing the bail plea, was among the 87 district judges who were transferred by the registrar of judicial courts on Friday.

Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, who is a close friend of the actor, is in Jodhpur with Alvira and Arpita.

Salman was accused of killing two blackbucks in the Kankani village near Jodhpur in 1998 during the shooting of the film Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Amidst all the pandemonium, Salman Khan seems to be getting some VVIP treatment inside Jodhpur jail.

Meanwhile, the Bishnoi Samaj said that it will appeal against the order in the Rajasthan High Court.

Judge Joshi, who is in the middle of the annual reshuffle of judges in Rajasthan, had, on Friday, put off the hearing by a day as he wanted to go through the entire case record before making a decision. He was acquitted in two related cases.

But animal rights group PETA said it was disappointed with Khan's bail.

Salman was charged under Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act (to be read with Section 149 of the Indian Penal Code).

Salman Khan reaches Jodhpur airport after being released from Jodhpur Central Jail. In 2015 he was found guilty in a deadly hit and run accident and received a five-year prison sentence.

The court of chief judicial magistrate (Jaipur rural) had sentenced Salman Khan to five years imprisonment in connection with almost 20-year-old blackbuck poaching case on Monday.

The bail has been granted on a surety of Rs 50,000.

Khan, one of the world's most highly paid actors, has denied killing the rare antelopes known as black bucks during an alleged hunting safari in 1998.

The "Tiger Zinda Hai" actor was lodged in Barrack No. 2, where rape accused Asaram Bapu is housed, as Kaidi number 106 for two nights.
