Parliament adjourns for 19th day as noisy protests continue

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan appealed to the AIADMK members to return to their seats saying she can not take up the no- confidence motion unless the House is in order.

Congress Chief Whip Jyotiraditya Scindia said the Opposition wanted a discussion on the no-confidence motion and 50 members were ready for it.

While AIADMK members continued to raise slogans "We want justice" and "We want Cauvery Board", the Amritsar Congress lawmaker from Punjab Gurjeet Singh Aujla was seen in an apron which has "Modi government must waive off GST on Golden Temple langar" inscribed on it.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar responded by saying that the government was ready for a discussion on the motion and blamed the Congress.

Telugu Desam members kept standing on their seats displaying placards, demanding Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.

Following protests and slogan raising by members belonging to the AIADMK on the Cauvery water sharing dispute, the Lok Sabha was on Tuesday adjourned for the day soon after Home Minister Rajnath Singh made a statement on the Supreme Court's ruling on the SC/ST Act.

AIADMK has put the political onus on its rival Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on the Cauvery issue. The main opposition party also raised the issue of India's biggest bank fraud alongside the TMC.

Amid the din, Naidu called the Ministers to lay the listed papers on the table of the House.

"The whole country is watching with concern why the House is not functioning".

Party leader M Thambidurai said, "Stalin says AIADMK should bring a no-trust motion (on Cauvery issue)".

Expressing concern on the disruptions in the House, Chairman Naidu said that a handful of people were not allowing the House to function. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan tried to proceed with the Question Hour, but as protests continued, and she adjourned the House.
