Paul Ryan on James Comey: 'I don't know the guy'

Paul Ryan on James Comey: 'I don't know the guy'

Earlier, US President Donald Trump himself had a few unflattering remarks to make about Comey on Twitter.

Comey's interview is part of a tour to promote his forthcoming book A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership, which will be released Tuesday.

Unbelievably, James Comey states that Polls, where Crooked Hillary was leading, were a factor in the handling (stupidly) of the Clinton Email probe. Comey will discuss his firing in an interview with "20/20" tonight.

Among other things, the book claims President Trump is "unethical" and "untethered to truth and institutional values".

"I think it above all is a truthful portrayal of Jim's observations, his feelings and what occurred", Clapper said.

Comey writes that Trump and his advisers did not ask about whether there was any future threat of Russian interference and only seemed to focus on "how they could spin what we'd just told them".

But the president returned to the subject repeatedly, Comey reports, asking him to "lift the cloud" and corroborate the presidential denials of various sexual accusations. Mueller's probe has expanded to include whether Trump obstructed justice by firing Comey, which the president denies.

In an interview aired Sunday on NBC News' "Meet The Press", the retiring Wisconsin Republican was grilled about the fired director's new book, "A Higher Loyalty", and was asked by host Chuck Todd if Comey was "a man of integrity". So I've met him two or three times in two or three briefings.

Comey, who was sacked by Trump a year ago, told ABC that a desire to ensure Clinton's victory was seen as legitimate played a role in his decision to announce the bureau would reopen the investigation, made 11 days before the election.

But since then, the question of Comey's credibility has become a more pressing matter in Washington as he has accused Trump of acting to obstruct the federal investigation into his campaign and business ties to Russian Federation.

"We find that Mr. Comey has a revisionist view of history and seems like a disgruntled ex-employee, afterall he was sacked", Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway added. Comey made a decision to release a letter, days before the presidential election, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was re-opening its probe of Clinton's email server. He casts Trump as a mobster-like figure who sought to blur the line between law enforcement and politics and tried to pressure him personally regarding his investigation into Russian election interference.

"James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR", Trump said. Because I was operating in a world where Hillary Clinton was going to beat Donald Trump.
