Russian envoy seeks meeting with Britain's Johnson over poisoning: RIA

Tensions rose to a new high between the two countries after what the United Kingdom and its allies alleged was a nerve-agent attack by Russian Federation on Sergei and Yulia Skripal in the southern English city of Salisbury last month.

The session on Thursday was called by Russian Federation, which is demanding to undermine Britain's case that Moscow was responsible for last month's attack in Salisbury.

"I made this recording, that was Yulia", she said.

About Yulia's condition, the doctor said, "Last Thursday, I informed you that Yulia Skripal's condition had improved to stable".

Relations between Russia and Britain have plunged to their lowest for decades since former Russian spy Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33, were found slumped unconscious on a bench in Salisbury last month.

Moscow assumes "with a high degree of probability" that the intelligence services of other countries are likely responsible for the incident, Nebenzia said at the United Nations.

At a United Nations' Security Council meeting today, Moscow's UN ambassador Vasily Nebenzia said Britain's main goal had been "to discredit and even delegitimise" Russian Federation with "unsubstantiated accusations".

Rossiya TV said Skripal's niece, Viktoria, who lives in Moscow, gave it the purported recording, although the broadcaster said it could not verify its authenticity.

British authorities say Russian Federation was behind the military-grade nerve agent.

Moscow had called the special meeting of the Security Council in NY to discuss the attack, saying Britain had "legitimate questions" to answer.

He asked why the British policeman was affected by the nerve agent immediately when it took four hours for Skirpal and his daughter to be affected.

"We hope that the British side will engage constructively and that such (a) meeting is arranged shortly", the spokesperson added. "A crime was committed on British territory, possibly a terrorist act, and it is our citizens who are the victims".

The UK government maintains that Russian Federation is behind the attack, claiming there is "no other plausible explanation".
