Telugu actress Sri Reddy's 'strip protest' against casting couch

The woman then stripped on the road to protest against the alleged sexual exploitation by Telugu film producers and directors.

Actress Sri Reddy, who has been raising voice in the social media and TV debates regarding casting couch has been taken into custody by police today. However, she wasted no time to remove her top wear and started accusing both Movie Artists Association and Producers Association for not giving her membership despite the fact that she acted in many movies and also produced three films. She also alleged that she was demanded nudes by several film personalities if she wants a role which she did. This extreme act was to express her grief against the prevalent discrimination going on in the Tollywood industry. They asked her to send nude videos promising film roles. Sri Reddy alleges she was denied roles in films because she refused to give in to demands.

Sri Reddy said, "We (Telugu Actresses) are seeking 75% Chances in Telugu Movies". Sri Reddy, apparently inspired by the "Me Too" campaign that began in Hollywood and spread across, has been shaking the Telugu film industry for the last few weeks with her frequent controversial "revelations" about casting couch. She threatened to go nude in public if the CM did not bother to listen to her concerns about the happenings in the industry. The Jubilee Hills police detained and shifted her to the station. I am no judge of whether her method of protest is right or not, but no woman deserves to be driven to this point.

"They give roles to actresses imported from Mumbai or others places, whereas we local girls are only sexually exploited on the promise of being given roles", she rued.

She revealed that she has been sexually exploited in the past.
