Trump approval rating at 50 percent, president responds

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Two new polls, taken before President Donald Trump launched airstrikes on Syria Friday night, show that around four in 10 Americans approve of the way Trump is handling his job. With all of the phony stories and Fake News, it's hard to believe!

In recent months, however, Rasmussen had Trump's approval rating in the high 40s and low 50s. Other recently released polls, however, have not been so kind.

President Trump's gains in adults aged 18-34 were trumped by losses among Republicans, Independents, Democrats, whites, men, and women, according to NBC News.

For Trump, however, the number is still an improvement, marking his highest approval rating since April 2017. When looking at approval ratings of Trump's handling of the economy, Americans are almost evenly spit, with 46% approval and 48% disapproval. Americans are much more united in their dislike of Trump himself, however: 61% of poll respondents said they saw Trump unfavorably "as a person", as compared with only 32% who disagreed.

Of the majority of Americans that live in rural parts of the country, 59 percent also approve of Trump's performance.

A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that Trump's job approval rating among all adults is at 39%, and 57% say they disapprove of his job performance.

While that's down three points from March, the pollsters noted enthusiasm for Democrats is high ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.

According to the NBC/WSJ poll, Democratic voters are also more enthusiastic about heading to the polls in November.

The results come after another tumultuous week for the Trump administration.

A weekly Rasmussen poll released Friday put the commander-in-chief just one point above the 49% of voters who aboved of Obama at the same point in 2010.

His standing fell in almost every category among the 900 adults - including 720 registered voters -polled between April 8 and 11.
