Trump weighs Syria options, Russian Federation envoy says he 'cannot exclude' war

President Donald Trump huddled with top national security advisors Thursday to weigh his military options in Syria, as Moscow warned against any move that risks triggering a conflict between Russian Federation and the United States.

If driven into a corner by a USA attack, Putin will be unlikely to sit back.

The Kremlin on Thursday warned the USA and its allies, who are weighing military strikes on Syria, to avoid any steps that could destabilize the situation there.

Russian lawmakers have warned the United States that Moscow would view an airstrike on Syria as a war crime, saying it could trigger a direct military clash between the two former Cold War adversaries.

The latest Trump tweets illustrate the threat of wider war that could break out in Syria as the USA and its allies could come into direct confrontation with Russian Federation, a nuclear-armed power.

A United States official says one option is hitting the Assad regime's command and control headquarters for the country's military.

The WHO said that among the more than 500 people treated for symptoms of gas poisoning in Douma, "there were signs of severe irritation of mucous membranes, respiratory failure and disruption to central nervous systems of those exposed".

Any U.S. strike would probably involve the Navy, given the risk to aircraft from Russian and Syrian air defenses.

Ms Pierce said she wanted "to state categorically. that Britain has no involvement and would never have any involvement in the use of a chemical weapon".

Asked in a TV interview whether France would join strikes on Syria, Macron said, "We will need to take decisions in due course, when we judge it to be most useful and effective", according to Agence France Presse. Multiple ISIS attacks have targeted French soil, including one last month.

The war talk came against the backdrop of relentless domestic crises in and around the White House that the USA liberal media reports unremittingly, but which Trump dismisses as "fake news'".

"Initial indications are that the precision of the Storm Shadow weapons and meticulous target planning have resulted in a successful attack", the ministry said.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday said France has proof that the Syrian government launched chlorine gas attacks and that France would not tolerate "regimes that think everything is permitted".

"Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria", Trump tweeted.

Inspectors from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are expected to arrive in Syria over the weekend to investigate the reported attack, following an invitation from Damascus.

The US president also accused The New York Times of writing a "phony story" over a report that Mueller's office is looking into a payment that a Ukrainian steel magnate made to Trump's charitable foundation in exchange for a video appearance. Qatar hosts the United States' main air operations center for the Middle East, which would coordinate any American air attack in Syria.

Some analysts have predicted that the Kremlin will not wish to engage in a military clash with the USA, but that the ongoing tension with Syria could push the two sides toward a military confrontation.

The US State Department said the United States has proof at "a very high level of confidence" that the Syrian government carried out the attack but is still working to identify the mix of chemicals used.

Speaking at a White House cabinet meeting Monday, Trump said: 'It was an atrocious attack.

"Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria". He said any big tragedy can occur in the world any time.

The ministry said recent statements from Washington "show (the Trump administration) lacks not only principles and values but also wisdom and logic and that in itself endangers global peace and security". Moscow has cautioned the USA not to launch a military attack.
