Trump's re-election campaign has raised $10 million so far this year

So far this year, the campaign has raised $10.1 million, spending $3.9 million.

Besides increasing money due to his effort, money for campaigns have also amassed using all the Republican National Committee, which utilizes that capital. Traditionally, incumbent presidents have waited until after their second year in office to begin their re-election campaign.

About $840,000 in payments for "legal consulting" were made to eight firms and the Trump Corporation. Jones Day, its main legal counsel, receiving the most billings, some $347,813.

Another legal battle the president faces - the alleged 2006 affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels.

The campaign's filings list the spending's objective with the firms as legal consulting, without greater specificity.

The two legal firms involved in the fight with Daniels - Harding LLP and Larocca, Hornik, Rosen, Greenberg & Blaha - were paid a combined total of $280,000.

Using campaign funds to pay for the president's mounting legal fees related to Daniels and the Russian Federation investigation means that the money small-dollar donors are giving to the president's campaign isn't all going toward traditional reelection efforts like ads, campaign staff payroll, and fundraising. That was a sharp drop from the previous quarter, when the campaign paid the firm almost $215,000.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation on April 9 raided the office, home and hotel room of Cohen, long known as a fixer for Trump's business and personal endeavors. Cohen's attorneys were seeking an emergency stay to prevent prosecutors from examining materials that they claimed may have included tens of thousands of privileged communications between Cohen and his clients. Parscale was the digital director of Trump's 2016 campaign. The firm's name partner, Charles Harder, is also representing Cohen in the Daniels litigation.

The campaign spent another $58,000 on costs listed as "rent" divided between three recipients: Trump Plaza, Trump Restaurants and Trump Tower.

In late March, the campaign paid $22,000 to John McEntee, who joined as senior adviser for campaign operations after he was forced out of his position as Trump's personal assistant earlier in the month.

He continues to energize small-dollar donors, FEC filings show.

The joint fundraising committees ended March with $15.9 million in the bank, according to their FEC filings.
