Unnao rape case: BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh claims was in Kanpur

The 55-year-old father of the Unnao rape survivor died in the police custody after he was brutally thrashed by Atul Singh and his people.

The CBI arrested BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in connection with the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district last year and the custodial death of her father earlier this week. As per a report in the Times of India, the police will now match the call records of the accused and the victim and try to ascertain their locations at the time of calls.

Sengar appeared in court the same day and was ordered detained for seven days.

BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was sent to seven-day CBIcustody on Saturday after he was arrested over allegations of raping a teenager in Unnao past year.

The victim's family also alleged that the accused MLA's brother and his companions also raped the woman, reports ANI.

Singh also demanded for a CBI investigation into the heinous crime, saying that only an investigation will bring out the truth to the fore front.

After massive public outrage over the inaction by the police, the case was finally handed over to the CBI on April 12.

Sources said, "The central agency chose to arrest the MLA when he failed to satisfactorily reply to questions during interrogation". According to victim's family, Shashi Singh stood outside the room as a guard while Kuldeep Singh was raping the girl. CBI officials said they would question the MLA at length and would take him to Unnao to reconstruct the scene of the crime and to collect evidence against him. In the audio conversation, SHO says that if he wants to live, he should manage the local BJP leaders in order to get his name out of the list. "Some goons of Kuldeep Sengar are threatening villagers to keep quiet".

"The real culprit of Unnao's victim, who was raped reportedly in June 2017, and who pleaded at the doorstep of the BJP CM even attempting self-immolation is no one but the Chief Minister and he should immediately be sacked", said Surjewala.
