Airline Starts 'Cheapest Flight' From Delhi To New York. Via Iceland

Skuli Morgensen, founder and CEO of WOW Air said: 'I am thrilled to broaden WOW air's offerings and bring low fare global flight service to India.

New Delhi- Iceland's low fare transatlantic airline - WOW air - on Tuesday said that it will commence operations between New Delhi and Keflavik airport to multiple destinations in North America at fares starting from Rs 13,499 including taxes. So passengers travelling to the U.S. will have a stop over at Reykjavik - acting as a hub for the airline - and then take a Wow flight to the US. That will start with basic, which covers only the fare and excludes charges for the seat, baggage and food, and goes up to premium, which is similar to business class.

Skuli Mogensen, Wow Air's founder and CEO, explained while speaking to NDTV that the cheap flights were available as part of the basic introductory fare and that additional taxes would apply to the price. The other two fare options are "Wow plus" and "Wow comfy".

Wow's new route is available from New York City (Newark), Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and St. Louis, and those ultra-cheap tickets are selling out quickly.

Wow Air, which would be flying an Airbus A330 Neo to India and operate five days a week, now serves 39 destinations across Europe and North America including London, Paris, New York, Toronto, Baltimore, San Francisco and Chicago. According to statistics, there are, currently, there are 20,000 people who travel between India and North America every day. As of spring 2018, the airline services 39 destinations across Europe and North America including Dublin, London, Paris, Berlin, and Copenhagen.

A Wow Air flight will take off from Delhi in morning hours and will take about 11 hours to reach Reykjavic. "Fares can absorb the rising crude oil prices unless it breaches the Dollars 100 mark", he told PTI. There are only 4,200 of them, valid for travel between January 10 and March 31, 2019, so if you want the best deal, book fast: After those sell out, one-ways rise to $399 (still a damn good deal).

While UK travellers using the service will initially travel west, the airline expects its competitive fares to still entice those looking to keep their costs down.
