Alabama softball to host NCAA Regional for 14th straight year

The Huskers were not among the teams in 64-team field, which was announced Sunday night.

With that, the Wildcats will host the 2018 NCAA Softball Regionals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at John Cropp Stadium.

No. 1 Oregon, No. 3 UCLA, No. 5 Washington, No. 8 Arizona State and No. 14 Arizona will be at home during the opening weekend, hosting four-team double-elimination tournaments.

Per the brackets, the victor of the Alabama regional will face the victor of No. 5 Washington's regional.

Alabama vs. MTSU will be played at 8:30 p.m. Friday, following the 6 p.m. Oregon State-Wisconsin game. The Badgers (28-21) had a lower RPI (46) than Nebraska entering the Big Ten Tournament, but the Badgers won eight of their final 12 games, including a sweep of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Should LSU advance, they will face the victor of the Tallahassee regional in the super regional and will travel to Tallahassee if 6 seed Florida State wins the regional.

The Wolverines are in the NCAA Tournament for the 23 straight season and 25 time under 34-year head coach Carol Hutchins.
