Allan McGregor: I'm back at Rangers to win

McGregor, 36, was offered terms to stay at Hull City, but insists he couldn't turn down the opportunity to resume his Rangers career, having left for Besiktas in 2012.

After he joined the exodus of big-name stars from the club in 2012, he spent a year with Besiktas in Turkey before joining Hull and racked up nearly 150 appearances for the Tigers.

McGregor has 38 Scotland caps and his form was rewarded with a recall from Alex McLeish recently.

He played all 46 league games as the Tigers finished 18th.

Steven Gerrard landed Scott Arfield from Burnley on a four-year deal earlier this week.

"He is vastly experienced goalkeeper who we feel can add to the options available to us now", Gerrard told the club website. He has won lots of silverware for this club and has shone at the highest level in Europe'.

"When the chance came, it was an absolute no-brainer, so I'm buzzing to be back", he told Rangers TV.

Now, the Liverpool legend is turning his attention to the defence and is keen on bringing the 21-year-old centre back to Ibrox.

He added: "I started training here when I was 12 years old and it's incredible to be back".

"You need to win games and it doesn't matter who you are playing. If you keep doing that, that's what wins you titles". He netted his first Premier League goal for Liverpool last weekend but could move in search of more regular football. Despite his advancing years, he has been a fantastic performer for Hull this past season, and it would be little surprise if Steven Gerrard is planning to use the veteran as his first-choice stopper next term.
