CBS' Murphy Brown Revival Will Be Taking on Cable News

CBS' Murphy Brown Revival Will Be Taking on Cable News

Magnum P.I. will air Mondays at 9/8c on CBS this fall.

Check out the full CBS fall lineup with the schedule below.

"Murphy Brown" is set to air on Thursdays at 9.30 P.M. Also in the Thursday lineup are "The Big Bang Theory", "Young Sheldon", "Mom" and "S.W.A.T".

Candice Bergen's "Murphy Brown" struggled as a single mother at the FYI network in the early 90s, but in 2018 she will fight for ratings against a Fox News-like cable show starring her child. The gang still hangs out at Phil's Bar when the day is done, though the spot is now run by Phil's sister, Phyllis (Tyne Daly).

White suburban family moves into a new neighborhood, which CBS seems to want to imply is rough-and-tumble, but is really just inhabited by Cedric the Entertainer. This time around, however, Magnum is an ex-Navy SEAL who is settling back into civilian life after a tour in Afghanistan. But the Higgins keeping him in line now is named Juliet (played by Perdita Weeks). Zachary Knighton and Stephen Hill co-star as Magnum's buddies. Stephen Hill plays TC.

And remember that CBS passed on a reboot of "Cagney and Lacey" with Sarah Drew and Michelle Hurd.

At its upfront presentation today, the network premiered trailers for its new pickups, including the buzzy revival of Murphy Brown, its Magnum P.I. reboot, and a show about God using social media.

Steven Lilien & Bryan Wynbrandt, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Marcos Siega are executive producers for Warner Bros Television and CBS Television Studios.

The uplifting series stars Brandon Micheal Hall as Miles Finer, an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down and inside-out when he receives a Facebook friend request from God.

On Tuesdays, Bull's former berth between NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans will be filled by Federal Bureau of Investigation, a new procedural from University of Pennsylvania grad Dick Wolf, who also has four shows on NBC this fall: Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. Executive producer Dick Wolf's new crime drama is set in NY and stars Jeremy Sisto, Zeeko Zaki, Missy Peregrym and Connie Nielsen. CBS' other returning series that will begin their seasons later in the season are "Elementary", "Life in Pieces", "Man With A Plan", "The Amazing Race" and "Celebrity Big Brother".

"I left FYI a few years ago", Murphy Brown (Bergen), reveals in the sit-down interview.
