First lady Melania 'doing really well' after medical procedure: Donald Trump

Melania Trump, 48, is recovering at the hospital in Bethesda, Md., after having an "embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney issue" on Monday, her office said.

The White House says Melania Trump is hospitalized after undergoing a procedure to treat a benign kidney condition.

The president started his day by tweeting an update on the first lady early Tuesday morning, saying she would be leaving the hospital in "2 or 3 days". [She] will likely remain there for the duration of the week.

First Lady Melania Trump has taken on a more public role lately - recently releasing her "Be Best" campaign created to help children be their best by addressing well being, social media use and opioid abuse. He also spent time with her at the hospital on Monday evening after she had been treated. On May 7 she unveiled her newest philanthropic initiative, Be Best, which focuses on the well-being of children and kindness and safety for kids using social media.

She was last seen in public on Wednesday at a White House event where she and the president honored military mothers and spouses for Mother's Day.

After visiting his wife at Walter Reed Medical Center President Donald Trump tweeted, "Our great First Lady is doing really well". Unlike Monday's inclement weather motorcade return, on Tuesday he left Walter Reed at 5:41 p.m. on Marine One to return to the White House.

The White House has not offered any additional information about her condition, citing her privacy.

A Slovenia-born former model, Melania married Trump in 2005. She's watching us right now. Trump has acknowledged reimbursing his lawyer for the payment to porn star Stormy Daniels but denies her allegations. Trump also denies the allegations from Karen McDougal.

The first lady lived full time in NY during the administration's opening months so Barron would not have to change schools midyear.
