James Harden one of three nominees for NBA's Most Valuable Player award

James is joined by Houston's James Harden and New Orleans' Anthony Davis as the other two finalists.

Wednesday night before tip-off of game two of the Western Conference Finals, the National Basketball Association announced the three finalists for the league's highest individual honor.

James, who at 33 produced one of the best seasons of his outstanding career, is in the running for a 5th career MVP title.

That's right, after months of whispers, think pieces and lowkey campaigning, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons have been named finalists for a pair of most valuable player awards and could bring home some postseason hardware for the first time in nearly half a decade.

Harden is the frontrunner for the award as he has been the Houston Rockets' best player as they finished not only as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference over the Golden State Warriors but as the best team in the regular season overall with an impressive 65-17 record.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers' Ben Simmons and Utah Jazz's Donovan Mitchell are finalists for the NBA Rookie of the Year award.

The NBA released the list of nominees for its year-end awards, which will be given out on Monday, June 25 in the second annual televised awards show on TNT. But to keep our appetites satiated, the National Basketball Association announced the finalists for each award on Wednesday. The Brow was an absolute monster on both ends of the court, evidenced by the fact that he also finished in the top three of the Defensive Player of the Year voting.
