Kensington Palace releases statement about Meghan Markle's dad not attending her wedding

But the reasoning behind it is no longer about those paparazzi pics or the Markle family's strained relationships; now, we're learning Thomas actually needs serious, urgent heart surgery ASAP. He also said that he had suffered a heart attack a week earlier.

However, as per latest reports in an worldwide magazine, Thomas has now dropped out of the wedding. He told TMZ he didn't primarily do it for the money; the Mail on Sunday reported that the photos were sold to outlets worldwide and netted $135,000. They were what one might expect paparazzi snaps of a non-famous person would look like: mundane and, well, a little unflattering.

Thomas Markle (73) had been due to fly to Britain to take a prominent role at his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday.

"She doesn't want to let anything ruin her day and is trying to keep focus on the weekend", the insider continued. When asked if her father had been paid, she said didn't think so but wasn't sure.

He reportedly told celebrity website TMZ: "They (doctors) will go in and clear blockage, fix damage and put a stent where it is needed".

Thomas Markle has reportedly decided he is not going to his daughter's wedding. Meghan will be walking down the aisle on May 19th at the Windsor Castle.

The last official statement, issued late Monday, was a masterpiece of obfuscation: It neither confirmed nor denied whether Markle would be at the wedding.

He had also been expected to meet the queen, her husband and the other senior members of the Windsor family this week.

The website wrote: "He says since his daughter started dating Prince Harry he's been offered anywhere between $50,000 and $100,000 for interviews and he's turned all of them down".

Markle's half-sister, Samantha Grant, recently admitted that she arranged for their dad to pose for staged photos, in which he was seen reading a book about photos of Great Britain, while another featured him clicking through a photo gallery of Meghan and her fiancé at an internet cafe.

She is not on the wedding guest list.

"I feel that the media have unfairly preyed on him and he has really been admirable about laying low and not speaking out on certain things", Markle told ITV.

Meanwhile, Meghan's extended family who weren't invited to the wedding have been pictured landing in London.

Doria Ragland, Meghan's mother, is the highest possibility according to the bookies, with 4/6 odds.

No wedding plans have been officially changed yet.

Thomas Markle Junior, Meghan Markle's half-brother, accused the couple of shunning them in an April open letter. She never disinvited him.

"I couldn't be more proud of Meghan - she is everything to me".

Cliveden boasts award-winning restaurants and a spa, where the bride and her mom will no doubt get in some pampering time before the big day. Thomas Markle is a former lighting director who worked on a variety of American television shows, including ABC Daytime's "General Hospital".

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement was announced, paparazzi photos of Markle's father soon surfaced online.
