Lenovo Z5 teaser makes some big phone promises

Essentially the widow's peak of the smartphone, the notch is the area of the phone that sticks out like a sore thumb on these falsely named all-screen devices.

However, most see it as a stop gap solution until manufacturers can find a way to place all of those powerful cameras and sensors within a display. However the reality is that for the most part, many of them do not sport full screen displays as there is still some bezels left, but could Lenovo beat everyone to the punch? In two new images that surfaced over on Weibo thanks to Lenovo's VP Chang Cheng, the phone is clearly visible with an extremely small border surrounding its display. In other words, the handset might not have buttons, physical or otherwise, or a notch for the camera. It works to remove the notch, but to some it might not be worth having to drop the edge-to-edge claim.

Furthermore, in an earlier teaser for the Lenovo Z5, Cheng posted a partial image of the phone and said it will have a 95% screen-to-body ratio.

The Lenovo Z5 will arrive sometime in June and since it does not appear to have a facial recognition sensor other than the one that will be incorporated via software, it will probably have a fingerprint scanner for user authentication. We don't know if the Lenovo Z5 is in production now, or merely a concept.

Are you a fan of the notch on phones like the iPhone X? Cheng's post claims that "four technological breakthroughs" and "18 patented technologies" were made for the phone, but doesn't go into details.
