Packers not expected to sign WR Dez Bryant

I still believe Dez can high-point the football as good as any other wide receiver in the National Football League.

When Jason Witten predicted his former teammate would end up in Green Bay catching passes from the two-time MVP, defensive coordinators in the NFC must have had their hearts stop for a brief moment.

While the Packers may be the best fit for Bryant because of Rodgers' pinpoint accuracy when throwing to covered receivers, the former Cowboys star isn't really a great fit for Green Bay.

Bryant isn't the man-handler of cornerbacks he used to be and he was never a speed receiver to begin with, but he's still a big, physical receiver who wins at the catch point and will run hard after the catch.

Witten mentioned quarterback play and a chance to contend for a title as reasons why Bryant would gravitate toward the Packers, but it takes two to tango. "Aaron Rodgers, he throws that back-shoulder throw so well, and Dez [can have] great chemistry with a good quarterback that can put the ball where ever he wants".

The Packers drafted three wide receivers in the recent NFL Draft though they lack established options with Jordy Nelson released and signing for Oakland Raiders.

Playing with a future hall of famer in Aaron Rodgers can turn any WR's career around. The Packers went away from their model player last offseason when they signed the polarizing Martellus Bennett, and no one can soon forget how badly that ended.

Bryant simply has not received much interest since being released by the Cowboys earlier this offseason.

"That's a vertical passing attack", Witten said.

Except some guy named Dez Bryant. "You need somebody that can stretch the field and [be] an X factor, and that's Dez Bryant". Saints and Packers are the lead dogs right now, in my opinion.

The 29-year old Bryant was released by the Cowboys in mid-April following a 69-reception, 838-yard season.
