Roseanne Barr blames racist tweet on sleeping pills

Roseanne Barr blames racist tweet on sleeping pills

But not everyone turned their back on the beleaguered comedian after her self-inflicted public relations nightmare (although Barr blames sleeping pills).

"People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world", the drugmaker tweeted.

But the drug's manufacturer, Sanofi, said in a statement: "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication".

Barr suggested she was being unfairly treated for "One stupid joke in a lifetime of fighting 4 civil rights 4 all minorities". She first claimed that Chelsea Clinton, daughter of the former president, was married to a nephew of Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros, a prominent Democratic donor (and one of the bête noires of the anti-Semitic ultra-right), which is not true.

The reboot of her hit sitcom Roseanne had been a ratings victor, and Mr Trump had called to congratulate her personally on its first season back.

Disney is the parent company of ABC TV network, which on Tuesday dropped the rebooted '90s sitcom "Roseanne" amid a ferocious online backlash against its star.

"It was 2 in the morning and I was Ambien tweeting - it was memorial day too - i went 2 far & do not want it defended - it was egregious Indefensible", Barr wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

Roseanne took to Twitter to defend herself yesterday, with a spectacularly weak explanation for her behavior.

In 1994, Barr said publicly that she had been diagnosed with multiple personality disorder.

Sanders expanded on what the president was angry about, citing ESPN anchor Jemele Hill calling Trump a white supremacist, comments made on ABC's daytime talk show 'The View, ' and ESPN's hiring of Keith Olbermann, who regularly tweets criticism of Trump.

ABC and Disney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

U.S. President Donald Trump sought an apology on Thursday from the executive behind ABC's cancellation of sitcom "Roseanne" over the comedian's racist tweet, citing critical coverage in the network's news reporting on him. And then some sarcasm (and a third-person reference): "Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the frightful statements made and said about me on ABC".

Former White House spokesman Anthony Scaramucci said, "When I was called a human pinkie ring and a goombah while in the @Whitehouse that was deemed acceptable comedy".

Barr also said her firing "worked out" because she "would leave when they started to try to censor me". Now, Barr's co-stars are reacting to both Barr's words and their show's end.

"I think reining Roseanne in could be a little hard".

The show scored huge ratings and was renewed for an 11th season after largely positive reviews - including from the president.
