Steve Kerr says Warriors 'definitely threatened' by Rockets

That's according to Chris Paul, who will be the Golden State Warriors star's opponent when his Houston Rockets face the defending champions in the Western Conference Finals.

LeBron James is on the verge of reaching the National Basketball Association finals for an eighth consecutive season, but his Cleveland Cavaliers face a familiar and formidable obstacle in the Boston Celtics.

For the first time in four years, since Steve Kerr became head coach of the Warriors, they don't have home-court advantage in a playoff series, thanks to the Houston Rockets' 65-17 season that earned them the No. 1 seed. "I think our guys, they are taking the challenge and they're embracing it".

Four-time NBA Most Valuable Player James has carried the Cavs on his back at times, averaging 34.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 9.0 assists in 11 play-off games for the Cavaliers, who edged in in a seven-game first round before sweeping Eastern conference top seed Toronto.

Trevor Ariza is the only player in Houston's locker room to have featured in the NBA Finals, as he was part of the Lakers team that reached the final in 2008 and won the 2009 title.

"Once you get the first one, there's a little bit of house money. I like our position".

It's the first time the No. 2 Warriors have been in a playoff series without home-court advantage since 2014 when they lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 4-3 in the opening round.

This will be their third playoff meeting in the past four years, with the Warriors winning both previous meetings.

Kerr was unperturbed by the prospect of facing a hostile crowd on Monday. "In order to be the best you've got to beat the best, so we know what's at stake. It's a nice feeling to have and to go into a series with".
