Battlefield V will have battle royale

Today EA announced more details for DICE's Battlefield V title, the first-person shooter set in WWII. Dubbed as simply Royale mode, it will be launched after Battlefield V release date of October 19. Instead of asking players to pay extra to get new maps, every update is now free, and developer DICE is focusing on cosmetic items as a way to generate revenue from the game as an ongoing platform.

"I would be lying [if I said] there weren't people in the studio that would play [battle royale games] a lot", Gustavsson said with a laugh.

The popular game dev took to Twitter to welcome the "old friend" to the Battle Royale business, in all caps, with a "less than three" heart capped at the end. Additionally, Battlefield's trademark destruction, as well as the variety of weapons and vehicles, makes a Battlefield Royale experience sound very intriguing. "It's a good sign when it comes from pure passion", he explained. There will also be a new battle royale mode, but it wasn't given a video preview. Oversaturation of the market isn't good for anyone, and it looks like that's where we might be headed, going forward. The EA Play Live Press Conference 2018 kicked things off with Battlefield V with a brand new trailer that shows gameplay in action. EA revealed at that time that players will not be able to gain extra advantage by paying for premium features on an official post on the "Battlefield V" website from Senior Development Director Ryan McArthur.
