Emilia Wickstead Responds To Royal Wedding Dress Reports

Emilia Wickstead Responds To Royal Wedding Dress Reports

There is, perhaps, a modern morality tale at its heart.

I don't think her wedding dress was a copy of our design.

Following much pre-wedding speculation, the creator of Meghan's wedding dress was revealed as Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy.

The claim of the London-based designer about the royal wedding dress, created by Givenchy's Clare Waight Keller, sparked an uproar on social media.

Oh, and apparently she criticised Meghan's royal wedding hair, too: 'Hold the wisps back.

"I would have done one more fitting", she told Entertainment Tonight shortly after the wedding on 19 May.

Emilia Wickstead stated that the robe worn by the Duchess of Sussex, which is rumoured to have value upwards of £200,000, was the identical as one in all her £7,000 creations.

On Sunday, Wickstead took to Instagram after her Twitter account was suspended and released a statement.

Wickstead's dress has some of the same features as Markle's, including the sleeves, neckline, and simple design.

And now, Yoox Net-a-Porter Group has reported that Givenchy's full-price sales increased tenfold in the three days after the wedding in comparison with the three days prior. Waight Keller, who has been in her position for one year (previously she enjoyed a very successful tenure at Chlo??) secured the kind of coup a newly installed designer could hardly dare to dream of.

At this stage, it is unclear if Wickstead is retracting the comments or alleging that her words were reported incorrectly.

Now the designer's Twitter account has been suspended.

Wickstead - who has said her own wedding dress was inspired by Audrey Hepburn's Givenchy gown in Sabrina (awkward) - has certainly had her credibility and pride dented.

She launched her eponymous label at the age of 24 in 2007.

Is Diet Prada attempting to give Wickstead a taste of her own medicine?

The white, silk-crepe halter-neck gown was arguably more popular among viewers, especially for being a little more racy.
