Flooding threat continues in western, coastal North Carolina

Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for all counties in northern Alabama, as well as Lincoln, Moore and Franklin counties in southern middle Tennessee, from 7 AM CDT Tuesday morning through 7 AM CDT Wednesday morning.

But now emergency officials are turning to the mountains, where flash floods and risky landslides are possible through at least Wednesday as Alberto's remnants move to the west. It is rarely used and is activated only to stress a dire flash flood situation.

As a reminder, NEVER drive through flood waters. A number of roads are blocked by flooding, but the exact number was not immediately available.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are forecast today, with new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible, according to the weather service. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.* Some locations that will experience flooding include.

No injuries have been reported.

Officials advise to not cross flooded roadways and to seek higher ground.
