Alongside Trudeau's eyebrows, the G7 summit also saw President Donald Trump lash out at the Canadian prime minister after he said that Canada would with "absolute certainty" impose retaliatory tariffs on USA goods.

Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi broke with his party's leadership and criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday for publicly fighting with President Donald Trump, The Hill reported.

He complained that he had been blindsided by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's criticism of his tariff threats at a summit-ending news conference.

A New York Times reporter who was present at the Trudeau press conference tweeted Sunday that he didn't understand what remarks Kudlow was referring to when the economic adviser said Trudeau stabbed the U.S.in the back.

"He really kind of stabbed us in the back", Kudlow said.

"He is not going to permit any show of weakness on the trip to negotiate with North Korea", Kudlow said.

Sunday, Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow accused Trudeau of undermining the US and its allies with comments he made at the G7 summit. "Then Justin acts hurt when called out!", Trump tweeted.

Speaking in her first interview since the G7 summit in Canada, the chancellor said the European Union would continue preparing countermeasures to USA metal tariffs. He further threatened to stop doing trade with countries "who are being unfair" to the US.

In a mocking tone, Kudlow rattled off the reasons Trudeau offered for his barbed critique of Trump's policies.

The communique was supposed to illustrate shared ground between the US, Germany, the UK, Canada, France, Italy and Japan following Mr Trump's imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminium imports.

Kudlow adds that Trudeau's press conference was indignant and seemed to claim it was an attempt to undermine President Trump's historic summit with Kim Jong un in three days.

Merkel said that Trump would probably retaliate by implementing new tariffs on German vehicles.

France has warned that "fits of anger" can not not dictate global cooperation after US President Donald Trump abruptly rejected a previously agreed joint statement in the wake of a fractious Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada. "We make our commitments and keep them".

Trump blasted both Trudeau and Macron on Twitter ahead of the G7 summit, which he was reportedly wary of attending.

In return, Mr Trump made the French president his guest at his first White House state dinner, after which the U.S. president said of his visitor: "I like him a lot".

The US president had also referred to a conversation he had with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard and called him a "beautiful man".

In response to the initial tweets critical of her country and prime minister, Canada's foreign minister, Chrystia Freeland, said her nation "does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks".
