Lewandowski on girl with Down syndrome: ‘Wah wah’

Enraged by Lewandowski's callous remark, Petkanas replied, "Did you just say "womp womp" to a ten-year-old with Down syndrome being taken away from her mother?"

And just when you thought the level of heartlessness surrounding this issue had reached its peak, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski opened his mouth during a Tuesday segment on Fox News. But Lewandowski was unmoved, responding with a derisive "sad trombone" sound - "womp, womp!" as Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo described it.

A former campaign manager for Donald Trump has created a stir by dismissing a story about a girl with Down syndrome with a sarcastic "Wah wah".

"How dare you, how absolutely dare you, sir", Petkanas said.

"How dare you? How dare you?".

"What I said is you can pick anything you want. but the bottom line is very clear: When you cross the border illegally, you have given up the rights of this country", Lewandowski said while Petkanas was saying "How dare you".

Lewandowski's response sent Petkanas into a rage.

On Tuesday, Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray shared the 10-year-old girl's story, calling it "particularly painful".

The Department of Justice moved earlier this year to prosecute illegal border crossers to the fullest extent of the law, resulting in children being separated from their families and detained as the adults are prosecuted. Their father, a United States resident, is trying to gain custody of them.

Videgaray called the policy of separating children from their families "cruel and inhumane" and said Mexico had a "moral responsibility" to speak out.

"There is no low to which this coward Corey Lewandowski won't sink", former Fox News star Megyn Kelly tweeted.
