Meow! Restaurants launch Twitter war with IHOP (now IHOB)

Meow! Restaurants launch Twitter war with IHOP (now IHOB)

International House of Pancakes will continue serving flapjacks, but is emphasizing the beef after announcing Monday morning it has changed its name to the International House of Burgers.

Although there were multiple guesses to what the "B" stood for - and although there's already an IHOB, it just happens to be in India - the most common guess was that the "b" stood for "breakfast".

The internet was buzzing last week after then-IHOP announced on Monday, June 4, that the restaurant would be making a dramatic change to their infamous brand by flipping the "p" in their logo to a "b".

In truth, IHOP isn't actually changing its name to IHOB; it's simply adding burgers to its menu, and is using the name-change gimmick to advertise the addition.

Well, the time is finally here and pancake enthusiasts may be surprised to find out that the "b" will actually stand for burger.

IHOP's specialty is pancakes, we value IHOP as a place to get pancakes, and we shouldn't forget that IHOP is a place for pancakes.

Tell Us: Will you be trying one of IHOb's burgers?

Even breakfast-themed chain Waffle House has gotten in on the action by responding to a fan and tweeting, "Even though we serve delicious burgers. we know our roots".

And Red Robin, which doesn't have a breakfast menu, teased: "We're as serious about pancakes as IHOb is about burgers". Its most recent notable exchange was with WWE wrestler Braun Strowman, who called them out for not having its grilled chicken sandwich readily available upon his past visits. "And, when you try them, I think you'll agree with me that IHOb's new line of Ultimate Steakburgers are so good that I'd put them up against anyone's ... just like our pancakes".

More Money: McDonald's: You buy more from touch-screen kiosks than a person.

Don't worry, the change isn't permanent, according to the company.

IHOb has been mocked mercilessly for the name change, and the Phillies couldn't help but get in on the fun.
