Microsoft Announces Forza Horizon 4 for Xbox One and PC

The new products, announced Sunday at the company's E3 briefing in Los Angeles, includes Halo Infinite, a sixth version of its popular shooting title; Fallout 76, a prequel of the series made by Bethesda Softworks; and Forza Horizon 4, a racing title from United Kingdom -based Playground Games.

Three years later, Xbox's backward compatibility for older games has become one of the console's defining features.

As you can probably guess, Halo Infinite will be a Microsoft exclusive and only available on the Xbox One console family or Window PC.

Halo Infinite is powered by a new game engine created by Halo developer 343 Industries, called the Slipspace Engine. As expected, Forza Horizon 4 was announced by Playground Games during Microsoft's E3 2018 press conference today.

According to an article on Thurrott, games journalist Brad Sams claims that Halo Infinite will initially be released as a single-player only game, based on "reliable insider information" from Microsoft. Brad also says he was able to "view content that highlighted several unannounced Microsoft products that are coming in the next two years". "At Microsoft, we are committed to empowering gamers to play the games they want, with the people they want, where they want".

Microsoft has described the Forza Horizon 4 as an arcade racer, keeping the more laid-back Forza Horizon series than the Forza Motorsport titles.

With the Xbox One turning five this year and the Xbox 360 lasting for eight years until the Xbox One showed up, Microsoft talking up next-gen is odd but not unheard of.

"Those are the studios we've had a long relationship with".

"Playground Games will have a team dedicated to bringing their open-world expertise to an entirely new project", it said.

All the new studios will fall under the Microsoft Studios brand. There has been speculation that cloud-based gaming is the future of that particular industry. The new game arrives in October and will have players racing across the roads of Great Britain, with an all new dynamic seasons system in place.
