Oppo’s Find X takes a radical approach to killing the notch

The Find X's design has some potential drawbacks, though they're hard to assess without actually using the phone for some time. The most noticeable thing about the phone is that it comes with a almost bezeless screen that has no notch, a trend which more than a few smartphone manufacturers have implemented in new phones for 2018.

The smartphone packs a 3400mAh battery with Super VOOC Flash Charge, said to take 35 minutes to charge from 0 percent to 100 percent.

The smartphone comes with an nearly bezel-less display and offers 93.8% screen to body ratio. The technology uses 15,000 facial dot recognition and intelligent analysis to read a face. Oppo on the other hand has chosen to forego this particular trait, citing that it believes in attractive design, but to combat the loss of an area on screen where the front-facing camera would have been, Oppo has instead chosen to implement a hidden camera design which it calls the Stealth 3D camera, complete with mechanical components that will slide the camera module up int view when the user is ready to take photos.

"We're excited to be announcing our latest device in the OPPO Find Series and we look forward to bringing it to the Australian market".

In general, the price tag that OPPO has put on Find X is quite hefty indeed.

The first thing that jumps out when you look at the OPPO Find X is that most of the real estate on the front is occupied by that extra-tall, curved OLED screen that would fit in well in a Samsung catalog. While Oppo devices previously were only limited to the Asian market, the new Find X will sell globally including Europe and North America in August. In terms of durability, OPPO says they've tested it to over 300,000 times.

The phone with the peculiar name ditches the notch for pop-up cameras in order to make room for a bezel-free screen.

Under the hood, the Find X features the latest hardware available today in the form of a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, global LTE bands, dual SIM card slots, and a 3730mAh battery with OPPO's VOOC fast charging tech.

Software: The Oppo Find X runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based Colour OS 5.1.

Surprise announcement from early this morning, the Find X from Oppo is coming to the US. Once you turn the phone on and swipe on the lock screen, the camera slider comes up to scan your face.

What's interesting is that the Find X doesn't offer fingerprint recognition of any kind, even though earlier rumours claimed it would have an in-screen sensor.

The Find X has a 25-megapixel front facing camera and 16-megapixel and 20-megalpixel rear cameras.

The OPPO Find X Lamborghini Edition comes with 512GB of storage and it will be priced at 1,699 Euro which is about RM7,881. There is also support for 3D emojis similar to iPhone X ones. To herald the return of their flagship line, OPPO has pulled out all the stops holding the event at the Louvre to bring an innovative, and quite lovely looking phone to market.
