Phillie Phanatic injures fan with flying hot dog at Citizens Bank Park

"And hard", McVay told Philadelphia TV station WPVI. And it just hit me like that and I didn't even realize it. "And hard", she said to ABC's Philadelphia affiliate about the duct tape-wrapped snack that came hurtling her way during a game against the Cardinals.

As is a normal part of his schtick, the mascot was shooting hot dogs into the stands using an oversized cannon-type tool when one sailed in the direction of Kathy McVay of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

A woman at a baseball game was injured after being shot in the face by a flying hot dog that was sacked out of a hot dog cannon.

And one of them headed straight for McVay's face.

Kathy McVay was sitting in grandstands at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, US when the Phillies mascot took to the field. "My glasses flew", she said.

McVay, a longtime Phillies fan, added that she doesn't plan to seek legal action, but said her experience should be a lesson for baseball fans everywhere.

McVay says she won't join the list of plaintiffs to have sued the Phanatic, according to 6 ABC's Action News. However, she does have a message for fellow fans in the stands.

McVay realizes some might get a laugh at her expense out of the situation, and she understands. "It gives people a good laugh, and if that makes somebody chuckle, then that's fine".

The Phillies reached out to McVay directly on Tuesday to apologize. Sources close to the team also told Bloomquist that the Phanatic "feels terrible" about causing her injuries.
