Prince Harry, Meghan Markle attend Queen’s birthday celebrations

Nearly as soon as they appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the planes of the Royal Air Force in their traditional flypast, Kate Middleton's mini-me and her older brother were bringing the cuteness alongside the Queen's granddaughter, Savannah Phillips, with claps and giggles all around.

Trooping the Colour, staged every June by London's Horse Guards Parade, has commemorated the birthday of the sovereign for more than 250 years.

Prince Philip, who retired from public duties past year, did not attend the ceremony that involves more than 1,400 soldiers, 400 musicians and 200 horses.

Earlier, Markle arrived on Horse Guards Parade with her husband Prince Harry in a carriage, along with the Queen's cousin the Duke of Kent.

Meghan's dress was a gorgeous, custom-made pale pink Carolina Herrera dress and her Philip Treacy hat was matching.

No strangers to making style statements, Beatrice and Eugenie were last seen together in public at the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Ceremony at Buckingham Palace at the end of May. Colours, or flags, were carried, or "trooped", down the rank so that they could be seen and recognised by the soldiers.

The nation will next catch a glimpse of the Duchess of Sussex on June 14, as she is preparing for her debut joint engagement with the Queen. After the event, the couple joined other members of the royal family on the palace's front balcony to watch the Royal Air Force fly by. Although Queen Elizabeth already turned 92 on April 21, the royals understandably prefer to party and socialize in warmer weather.

Write Royalty, analysing details from the Court Circular, the official diary of the royal family, said the queen had conducted 125 engagements from January to the end of May. He will celebrate his 97th birthday Sunday.

But the duchess came to her rescue.

"I'm quite proud and I know that a lot of other people are proud of me as well".
