Putin says ready to meet Trump 'as soon as' Washington is ready

The Skripals were in critical condition for weeks before recovering.

Russia was ousted from the elite group in 2014 as punishment for Vladimir Putin's annexation of Crimea, and its support for pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine.

The President's suggestion to bring Russian Federation back into the G7, which represents more than 60 per cent of global net worth, was heavily criticized by most of the leaders and leading USA politicians.

Mr. Trump's stunning remarks on Russian Federation added to already fraught talks at the G7 and leave him more isolated.

Friendship Medals, the highest state honor to foreigners, are presented to foreign friends who have made outstanding contributions to China's modernization drive, promoting exchange and cooperation between China and the world, and safeguarding world peace, Xi said when delivering a speech. He says he agrees with that, adding that a thorough discussion is needed to address the issue.

Putin's remarks followed a report that White House officials were working toward setting up a meeting.

Moscow has denied any interference, and U.S. President Donald Trump has denied any collusion.

The U.S. leader has repeatedly said he wants to improve relationships with Moscow.

"Today crystallises precisely why Putin was so eager to see Trump elected", said Ned Price, a former Central Intelligence Agency analyst and the National Security Council spokesman under then-President Barack Obama.

Speaking about the Skripal case, discussed at G7 summit, Putin noted, that "nothing new" was said on the matter, stressing that "it is necessary to stop chatter and move on to cooperation".

Professor Zhu Feng, director of Nanjing University's Institute of International Studies, also said the award was a clear signal to the United States that if it increased pressure on both countries, it would mean both China and Russian Federation would have no choice but to increase cooperation so they can jointly deal with Washington.

"Things happen", Putin said.

He emphasized the need for the group to closely follow the situation in Afghanistan to fend off the threats posed by militants in the country.

And he went on to further warn that the United States, under Mr Trump's presidency, now posed the biggest challenge to West's continued leadership on the global stage.

The Chinese president said the three countries should push the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor, actively explore cooperation in areas such as infrastructure interconnectivity, and promote sub-regional cooperation in adjacent areas of the three countries.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he told Trump that readmitting Russian Federation 'is not something that we are even remotely looking at at this time'.

This is Mr Putin's first visit this year to China, which Beijing billed as "boasting great significance in planning the future course of China-Russia relations".

"The recent example of such unilateralism and the defiance of the decisions of the worldwide community by the USA government is its withdrawal from the JCPOA", he said, referring to the nuclear agreement by its official name, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The president added that the nuclear deal is backed by a U-N Security Council resolution and its, therefore, binding for all countries.

Last month, Trump pulled out of former U.S. President Barack Obama's landmark 2015 nuclear accord with Iran over the objections of European allies and other nations.
