Senegal, Japan, Uruguay fans tidy up after team plays in World Cup

Senegal, Japan, Uruguay fans tidy up after team plays in World Cup

While we'd love to give the Senegalese fans all the credit here, we're going to have to be a tiny bit selfish, and claim that we may have had a slight influence on them.

For starters, the Japanese fans have made headlines for continuing their practice of respectfully picking up trash and cleaning up stadiums after their games.

In the 2014 World Cup, Samurai Blue supporters brought big trash bags with them for use after the match with Colombia in Recife, Brazil.

He said: "You often hear people say that football is a reflection of culture". "An important aspect of Japanese society is making sure that everything is absolutely clean, and that's the case in all sporting events", sports reporter Scott McIntyre says.

But after the team swept Colombia off the pitch, Japanese fans also did their share of sweeping: meticulously cleaning up their rows and seats in the stadium.

Japan has also been getting in on the action and scoured the stadium, row by row, to ensure the Mordovia Arena in Saransk was clean. "Why I support Japan".

You could say they had a stake after all the co-hosted the championship with Korea, but African representatives Senegal who only Tuesday showed class by being the first African country competing in Russian Federation to win a match re-enacted what Japanese fans did four years ago by cleaning up the stadium 40 minutes after their match against Poland.

Thus far, the World Cup has been hard to predict, with some of the best teams falling to underdogs and confounding the experts.

Japan and Senegal will be facing off on June 24.
