U.S. and N Korean leaders to visit each other's countries

U.S. and N Korean leaders to visit each other's countries

U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un accepted mutual invitations to visit each other's countries at the Singapore summit, North Korean news agency KCNA reported on Wednesday.

In the aftermath of the Singapore summit, the anti-Trump talking point is that Trump accomplished nothing of effect.

But he said sanctions would remain in place for now and argued "we haven't given up anything".

The president also said the he trusts Kim will follow through, but won't admit if he got it wrong. The soldiers have participated in drills with South Korean counterparts and tested their capacity for joint military operations.

Kim has framed the switch as a natural next step now that he has what he stresses is a credible and viable nuclear arsenal capable of keeping the U.S.at bay.

Other pages showed USA and North Korean officials having their extended meeting, a working lunch and later, Trump and Kim signing a joint agreement that marked the end to the summit.

Trump said he had formed a "special bond" with Kim, whom he described as "very talented".

"Ending "war games" does not preclude normal peacetime training and is a decision easily reversed should Kim falter from this declaration of intent to pursue disarmament", he told The Times.

"We will be stopping the war games which will save us a tremendous amount of money", Trump told reporters, adding that "at some point" he wanted to withdraw USA troops from the South.

This is certainly not the pledge for the unilateral dismantling of North Korea's nuclear programme that the United States has always pushed for.

US Senator Rob Portman of OH said on Tuesday that the day he joined Warmbier's parents to welcome their son home almost a year ago "is a constant reminder to me about the evil nature of this regime".

It said the two countries would co-operate towards "new relations", while the United States would provide "security guarantees" to North Korea.

The US President is reportedly spending a bit more time with PM Lee today - two hours of talks and a working lunch together with government officials from respective countries, according to Channel NewsAsia.

The Rodong Sinmun report gave no further interpretation of what it called a "step-by-step" process on the nuclear issue or what reciprocal actions the North expected from Washington along the way. "I'm not trying to unify South Korea and North Korea". The video was broadcast on big screens at the start of Tuesday's press conference. S., People's Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Japan and Singapore. The plan outlined in the two leaders' joint statement turns out to be exactly what Beijing wants.

It was a choice that Trump, who has elevated North Korea to his top foreign policy priority, hoped Kim would consider an easy one, though he showed a moment of self-doubt.

The presidential Blue House said it needed "to find out the precise meaning or intentions" of Mr Trump's statement, while adding that it was willing to "explore various measures to help the talks move forward more smoothly".
