Ancelotti eyes swoop for Chelsea defender Luiz

Ancelotti eyes swoop for Chelsea defender Luiz

Chelsea are attempting to snatch Jorginho from Napoli under Manchester City's noses.

Sarri guided Napoli to a 2 place finish in the Serie A last season nearly winning the Italian title but the Partenopei replaced him with Carlo Ancelotti.

The prolonged uncertainty surrounding Conte and Sarri has had a paralysing effect on Chelsea's transfer plans in a window already complicated by the World Cup and compressed by the Premier League's earlier deadline, set for August 9.

City are understood to value Jorginho at around £35m, but Napoli initially wanted to take closer to £53m for him.

But Napoli and City are yet to come to an agreement over a transfer fee for the 26-year-old.

The prolonged uncertainty surrounding Conte and Sarri has had a paralysing effect on Chelsea's transfer plans in a window already complicated by the World Cup and compressed by the Premier League's earlier deadline, set for August 9.

Amid the speculation regarding Antonio Conte's future at Chelsea, the Italian boss has arrived at the club for the start of the pre-season.

The report claimed that Rugani's arrival is a big hint that manager, Maurizio Sarri is closing in on his move to Stamford Bridge.

Mateo Kovacic, now starring for Croatia in the World Cup and coming off a Champions League win at club level with Real Madrid is said to be an alternative for Manchester City should they miss out, as they look to replace the departed Yaya Toure and ageing Fernandinho in the centre of their midfield.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are still said to be interested in the Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri.
