Australia vs Pakistan, Tri-series Final

Australia vs Pakistan, Tri-series Final

Both the teams have won three out of four games of the league stage and have beaten each other once in the tournament encounter so far.

Australia and Pakistan had already qualified for Sunday's final after both won three matches each.

Opener Fakhar Zaman cracked a career-best 91 to help set up Pakistan's six-wicket win. Australia kept the same side that delivered comfortable wins over Pakistan and Zimbabwe to be the first team to reach the decider.

"He's been brilliant. Finchy and I spoke privately yesterday and I told him he's done a great job at the top of the order".

However, the Australia cricket team can regain the second spot if India lose the ongoing three-match T20I series between Men-in-Blue and England today. "It's just about guys getting back to the basics and making sure that they're executing when there's no pressure on so that when the time comes in a final like this, they're confident in their skills and able to deliver", Finch said.

Zaman shared in a century stand with Shoaib Malik as Pakistan recovered from an early wobble in their pursuit of Australia's 183 for 8, and Malik then showed all the experience of an 18-year worldwide career to see his team home in their highest ever successful T20I run chase with an unbeaten 43.

The match turned out to be very interesting.

All five of Pakistan's bowlers managed to take a wicket.

Australia skipper Aaron Finch (47), who shared a run-a-ball opening stand of 95 with Short, felt his side should have posted closer to 200 on what was a good batting wicket. After scoring 68 against Pakistan on July 2, Finch smashed his own world record by hitting 172 against Zimbabwe, the highest score by any batsman in T20I cricket. He still remains a unsafe prospect for any opposition, though, and his will be a prized wicket for the Pakistanis.

Vice-captain Alex Carey with an unbeaten 24-ball 37 was Australia's top scorer while opener D'Arcy contributed 28 runs.

PAKISTAN: Sarfraz Ahmed (capt, wk), Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Hussain Talat, Haris Sohail, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Usman Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Sahibzada Farhan.
