Less than 24 hours before the emergency, she posted a selfie on Instagram.

Lovato had been sober for 6 years from alcohol, cocaine, and Oxycontin, but last month released a song called "Sober" revealing she was no longer sober.

Lovato was scheduled to perform this Sunday in Toronto with Jason Mraz.

TMZ does not know her condition.

Lovato has struggled with substance abuse in the past. She appeared in the short series As the Bell Rings and show Sonny With a Chance, in addition the hit 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock, co-starring the Jonas Brothers. "Like all of you I am reeling at the news about Demi".

"My dad was an addict and an alcoholic", explained Lovato. According to Lovato's website, upcoming tour dates have been rescheduled. She said that she was "not suffering" and that she's learned a lot about herself in terms of her needs and wants in a relationship.

"I wasn't working my program. Your bravery is unbeatable", she said.

In 2011, she entered a facility, where she was treated for bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm, and addiction. Messages of support from the singer's friends and contemporaries, like Kesha, Ariana Grande and Lily Allen, poured out on Tuesday afternoon.

"There was one night when I used a bunch of coke and I popped a few [prescription] Xanax bars, and I began to choke a little bit". This is a very personal moment and respected delicately.

After relapsing, she continued to be honest with her fan base and so, in June, she released Sober, in an attempt to educate people on how it is a constant battle.
