Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns sign five-year, $158M extension

To put that in perspective, Arizona Cardinals star receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who has played 14 seasons in the league at the highest level, has not yet made that much money in his career.

The extension is five-years, $158 million, according to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania, and cemented Booker as the face of the franchise for years to come.

Listen to the latest from Cards Wire's Jess Root on the Rise Up, See Red podcast. "Devin and the team both wanted to extend his agreement with the club as long as we possibly could".

"I am humbled [and] honored to commit to the Suns organization long term", Booker wrote.

Booker, 21, has rapidly developed into the Suns' cornerstone star and the franchise's hope to lead it out of the lottery and back to the National Basketball Association playoffs.

"Thank you to the Suns for drafting me and believing in me", he said. "I look forward to the future and pursuing a title as a Phoenix Sun".

Through his first 3 seasons with the Suns, Booker has averaged 19.8 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 208 games.

The team announced the completion of the deal and Booker took to Twitter as well. He was one of the league's best rookies after the All-Star break last season with averages of 18.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game over that span.

They also secured the number 10 pick in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers and selected Mikal Bridges.
