Donald Trump attacks Brexit plan and says Britons ‘like me a lot’

Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May, right, stands with U.S. President Donald Trump, center, and U.S. first lady Melania Trump on steps in the Great Court as the bands of the Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards perform a ceremonial welcome at Blenheim west of London Thursday.

Russia, Brexit and the Middle East are set to top the agenda.

"I think they like me a lot in the UK", Trump said in Brussels.

Trump confidant Chris Ruddy believes the President, who is due to fly into the United Kingdom today, will not react how people think he will to the balloon.

Add in the embarrassment if they happen to be the leader of the free world.

"The people voted to break it up, so I would imagine that's what they would do, but maybe they're taking a different route".

Dick said they will be linked through to units at the same level in sectors such as the intelligence world.

The organisers behind the blimp however, said they were just "poking fun" and "hope Trump sees it".

When asked about the demonstrations, he replied: "It's fine".

President Trump, who will also spend time with the Queen during his stay, said: "I think they like me a lot in the UK". More recently, a YouGov poll found that only 11% of Britons were fans of the president.

May hopes Trump, who landed at Stansted airport before flying by helicopter to the U.S. ambassador's London residence, will help to accelerate a future free trade deal, though his public comments on Brexit cast a shadow over the visit.

Another man, who did not wish to give his name, said: "It was very complimentary to England and to the allies that we have, very positive".

Trump has clashed in the past with May - even though she is a conservative who shares his view that defense spending should be raised - and with her predecessor, David Cameron, who challenged Trump's anti-Muslim campaign stance as "divisive, stupid and wrong".

Mr Khan defended the blimp baby: "There are two issues; one is the freedom to protest and the right to free speech and the second is our issues on President Trump". A 19-foot-tall orange balloon, shaped to look like a baby version of President Trump, will be flown in central London.

Trump's trip coincides with a tumultuous week for May after two senior ministers resigned in protest at her plans for trade with the European Union after Britain leaves next March.

But Brexit champion Nigel Farage predicted there would be a "real clash" on Brexit.

The royals do not comment on politics, so there is unlikely to be any definitive public verdict on Trump's visit with Elizabeth Friday.

He is due to leave on Sunday for talks in Helsinki the following day with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose government May has accused of unleashing a lethal nerve agent in the city of Salisbury.

First lady Melania Trump disembarks after a flight with President Donald Trump.

The US president's brash style and hardline "America First" policies have caused consternation across Britain's political spectrum and society.

President Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May, seen during a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels on Wednesday, will reconvene this week in the United Kingdom.

Protesters hold placards during a demonstration outside Winfield House, the London residence of US ambassador Woody Johnson, on Thursday.
