Liverpool's Klopp defends keeper Karius after latest error

After a string of mistakes for Liverpool last season - including two which ultimately cost the Reds the Champions League final - Karius' future at Anfield has become increasingly under threat.

Liverpool had led 3-0 at half-time after goals from Rafael Camacho, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana, before Jonny Smith and Amadou Soukouna hit back for Tranmere.

"Yeah, it will probably happen for a while until he has a few fantastic games, that is how the situation is", said Klopp.

And the Liverpool manager maintained his support for the under-fire stopper after his mistake in the game with the newly-promoted League Two side.

They have wrapped up Brazilian midfield general Fabinho from AS Monaco days after their Champions League final heartbreak against Real Madrid and have also welcomed RB Leipzig's Naby Keita who agreed a long-term deal last summer.

He defended his goalkeeper saying that his poor performance was influenced by the concussion in the 3-1 loss, and he played him in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.

This was too much to handle for Ben Tollitt, a Tranmere player and Liverpool supporter, who shouted: "you're f****** s***" as he went to celebrate with his teammates. "Our job is to perform and you do what you do and that is part of the deal", he said.

"Two brilliant footballers make this mistake, which one was bigger?"

Jurgen Klopp insists that "mistakes happen" after goalkeeper Loris Karius once again gifted the opposition an easy goal in Liverpool's second pre-season outing.
