Real Madrid willing to sell Marco Asensio to Liverpool

Real Madrid willing to sell Marco Asensio to Liverpool

A Real Madrid star has responded to the rumours linking him with a possible move to 2017/18 UEFA Champions League runners-up Liverpool in the upcoming season.

According to reports in Spain, Asensio had been the subject of a £158m bid from Liverpool.

With his 23rd birthday coming up next January, Asensio wants to take a step forward in his career in a sporting sense and, if he is to stay at Real Madrid, he'll want a more important role. But having failed to nail down a regular place in Zinedine Zidane's starting line-up last season, speculation has been growing that the 22-year-old attacking midfielder could be heading for the exit. In the meantime, he remains a popular figure in the transfer market, with Liverpool hot on his heels.

Remember when the French attacker was on the verge of moving to Liverpool?

And the United boss is keen on Fekir as a replacement for Marouane Fellaini.

Aulas revealed that Lyon called off the deal because it was taking too much time and added that there is further interest in the France star, with Real Madrid among those tracking him.

Mundo Deportivo says the Reds have made a sensational offer to bring Asensio to Anfield.

For now, Real Madrid and Asensio are both remaining calm about the development.

Perez believes his good relationship with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi could work in his favour.

And according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Asensio's possible exit is exclusively down to Real president Florentino Perez's pursuit of PSG's Neymar.

Therefore, Liverpool seem to be on stable ground as they look to land Asensio this summer.

Fekir, who scored 23 goals for Lyon last season and is part of France's World Cup squad in Russian Federation, had been identified as a long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho by Liverpool.
