Royal family: Queen and Prince Philip to miss Prince Louis' christening

Britain's Princess Charlotte of Cambridge and Britain's Prince George of Cambridge hold hands with their father, Britain's Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, as Britain's Prince Louis of Cambridge is carried by his mother, Britain's Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Louis was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, who also led the baptism service of Meghan Markle in March.

The trip will take place over 10-11 July, where the Duke and Duchess will "meet the people of Dublin and will visit organisations which are central to Irish life". She has experience working with royals, having joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry's office as a senior communications officer, according to Town and Country.

"The bun is quickly becoming the Duchess's signature look", hairstylist Jason Collier told the Daily Mail, "so it's no surprise to see her sporting this style at today's ceremony".

Welcome (officially) to the world, little Prince Louis.

Princess Diana's favourite flower was the white rose - leading many to think Kate was making a subtle nod to her.

There's no time to rest for the Royal couple, with the pair heading straight to a meeting with the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar before attending a Summer Party at the British Ambassador's Residence, where The Duke of Sussex is set to give a speech.

As Kate chatted with the archbishop while holding Louis, she could be heard describing her sleeping son as "very relaxed and peaceful".

The godparents included Hannah Carter, a school friend of the Duchess, and Lady Laura Meade, who is married to Prince William's friend and Princess Charlotte's godfather, James.

Prince Louis, who was born on April 23rd 2018, is the youngest sibling to his brother, Prince George and sister, Prince Charlotte.

Miss Middleton and Mr Pelly each read a lesson during the service, Kensington Palace said.

It was worn for all royal christenings until 2008, when the Queen commissioned her dressmaker, Angela Kelly, to make a replica in order to preserve the original, the Palace said.

The two princes were dressed in their military garb, while Middleton wore Alexander McQueen and Markle donned a black Dior dress.

In addition to the godparents and their spouses, Prince Louis' maternal and paternal grandparents attended the christening, along with his aunts and uncles- Prince Harry and Meghan, James and Pippa Matthews, and James Middleton.
