Saudi Arabia Agrees To Pump More Oil to Maintain Balance

The announcement was made following a cabinet meeting headed by Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The U.S. president and the Saudi King spoke on Friday, according to the White House.

Trump's tweet on Wednesday came just a couple of days before OPEC meets in Vienna, and less than a week after the oil producer's cartel agreed to increase output by as much as 600,000 to 800,000 barrels a day to the market.

Ship brokerage Banchero Costa said Iran's crude oil production was now around 3.8 million barrels per day (bpd), but added "there is the risk of production decreasing going forward as exports are again affected by renewed sanctions implemented by the United States". "OPEC has not defined oil prices for the past 30 years, it is a financial market and regional hubs for marker crudes who does it?"

Matthew Smith, the director of commodity research at ClipperData, told UPI that oil prices so far this week are moving on one hand on OPEC pledges of more production, but correcting later on fears of supply-side strains.

"We are working to minimize disruptions to the global market but we are confident there is sufficient global spare oil capacity".

Saudi Arabia's output is up by 700,000 barrels per day (bpd) from May, a Reuters survey showed, and close to its 10.72 million bpd record from November 2016. It's telling that this is his third provocation on oil prices since April. Republican presidents, especially George H.W. Bush and his son, used diplomatic channels with Saudi Arabia, the world's biggest exporter which pumps nearly one-third of OPEC's output.

Oil prices rose on Tuesday after Libya declared force majeure on some of its crude exports, while the loss of Canadian supplies helped lifted US crude to 3-1/2-year highs.

In May, the USA retreated from a multilateral deal with Iran regarding its nuclear disarmament program, and imposed sanctions to limit the world's fourth largest oil exporter's access to global markets.

He explained that it was hard to anticipate how the market would integrate with a possible increase in crude oil output from major producers, referring to Saudi Arabia and Russian Federation.

Traders also cited chatter in the market that Mr. Trump would decide to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for extra barrels of crude.

"Falling production from Venezuela and an expected decline in supply from Iran after USA sanctions have fueled speculation of tighter global supply".

Despite the relief from Saudi Arabia and Russian Federation, oil markets remain tense because of unplanned outages from Canada to Venezuela and Libya.

OPEC-member Iran, however, has warned it would not accept other producers reaping the benefits by taking its market share.

In Asia, the world's top oil consuming region, seaborne oil imports have been falling since May, as higher costs turned off consumers and as the escalating trade dispute between the United States and China starts to impact the economy. "Iran. OK. You think of it. Iran is their big enemy, so they are going to have to do it", Trump said on Sunday in a Fox News interview.
