Arsenal v Manchester City

Arsenal v Manchester City

Arsenal and Manchester City will meet on Sunday in the Premier League's marquee match of week 1.

Manchester City will travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal in what is expected to be the most enthralling fixture in the very first week of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Mahrez was inches away from opening his account three minutes before half time when he curled a left-footed effort just past Cech's far post as City continued to dominate, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's effort nearly brought Arsenal level moments later but his long-distance strike sailed just wide.

"We saw [Sterling] good in the training session and we needed someone in that position and he did it well although he exhausted in the last 20-25 minutes", the City boss added.

Set what happened on the pitch aside, this was a huge day for Arsenal.

That Arsenal's performance was somewhat disjointed shouldn't detract from City's display. Emery will need time, but there was evidence of his organisational streak coming into play.

The gulf between City and Arsenal was plain to see. With Sead Kolasinac's knee injury keeping him out of action for the next two months, Nacho Monreal is the natural replacement for the Bosnian.

There were a number of concerning moments with the ball at his feet.

Mistakes plagued Arsenal throughout the 90 minutes.

Bernd Leno is expected to be preferred in goal to Petr Cech, with Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis the centre-back pairing. He was a bit steadier against City, and one of the few members of the defence who looked comfortable with the short-passing approach.

Aaron Ramsey looks like a definite starter as part of the midfield two, and the Arsenal boss will make a late decision on his partner. But for this game alone, his work as a shot-stopper was outstanding, making a series of excellent saves.

FW Mesut Ozil, 6 - After the fallout from the World Cup, Ozil would have had every motivation to make a positive impact upon this game.

'What we have done last season doesn't mean that now we are going to win this'.

In the United Kingdom, the Gunners vs. Citizens confrontation will live stream via Sky Sports NOW TV service, while in India, Hotstar will live stream the biggest English Premier League match of the new season so far.

Arsenal brought on Alexandre Lacazette ten minutes after the interval as they went in search of an equaliser.
