Brad Pitt Says He Gave Angelina Jolie $9 Million Since Split

Brad Pitt's lawyers are fighting back against Angelina Jolie's claims that "has paid no meaningful child support since separation".

Spiegel also said that Pitt "loaned" Jolie US$8 million to help her purchase her current home and has spent more than US$1.3 million "in bills for the benefit of [Jolie] and the minor children". Jolie has claimed that Pitt has not paid "meaningful child support".

"[Pitt] has a statutory duty to pay child support". Lawyers for Pitt tell TMZ their client was the one who asked for a quick settlement last week through legal teams but Jolie's reps submitted documents over child support first in a manner "calculated to increase the conflict".

"Given that the informal arrangements around the payment of the children's expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file an RFO [request for a court order] for the establishment of a retroactive child support order", the documents state.

Angelina Jolie's spokesperson Mindy Nyby revealed that the objective behind the court filing was to ensure that their marriage gets a "closure" and that Brad could "recommit to their children", added the report. But on Tuesday her spokeswoman said her filing was meant to provide closure to the marriage "and allow her and Brad to recommit as devoted co-parents to their children".

The two filings were rare unsealed public documents in the case that gave a glimpse into the slow-moving divorce of the 54-year-old actor Pitt and the 43-year-old actress and director Jolie Pitt.

Jolie's representatives did not immediately return a request for comment on Wednesday.

Jolie cited "irreconcilable differences" when she filed to end the marriage, and the pair became embroiled in a bitter child custody dispute in the months following the announcement.
