Chelsea midfielder wanted by Bundesliga giants

The England global has not had it nice since his £35m move from Leicester to Stamford Bridge last summer. The arrival of Mateo Kovacic as part of the deal which took Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid added another obstacle to his path.

According to a UK Sun report citing sources at The Daily Star, Blues Italian manager Sarri has "has signalled he is happy for the England worldwide to leave before the European transfer window closes at the end of the month".

Sarri opted to start with Jorginho, N'Golo Kante and Ross Barkley in midfield against Huddersfield, although Barkley's own fitness issues in recent times would suggest that Loftus-Cheek could yet force his way into the team at his expense.

Chelsea have already finalised loans for Bakayoko to AC Milan, Michy Batshuayi to Valencia and Kurt Zouma to Everton, which brings them in line with domestic and European squad rules.

Now Drinkwater is reportedly heading for the exit doors as Sarri attempts to reduce the club's salary bill.

Schalke are not interested in signing either Danny Rose or Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan, contrary to reports.

Loftus-Cheek is still able to join a foreign club on loan despite the English transfer window closing last week, and Bundesliga outfit Schalke are understood to be the first to have registered an interest, having lost Max Meyerduring the summer.

Wilfried Zaha has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Crystal Palace following speculation linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio Sarri will allow the midfielder to leave for an overseas club.
