Cristiano Ronaldo scores for Juventus on his friendly debut

Juventus fans gathering to watch the five-time Ballon d'Or victor at Villar Perosa - in a rural area of Piedmont in northern Italy - held up banners.

It did not take long for Ronaldo's impact to be felt and within seven minutes, two minutes after his first chance, he had his first Juve goal.

But minutes later a huge swarm of fans invaded the pitch and the game was subsequently abandoned.

"I've been coming here since I was 12 years old back in the 1960s, when (Gianni) Agnelli would arrive here in a helicopter", he said.

Juventus fans will get their first glimpse of superstar summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo in rarefied surroundings on Sunday, when he makes his debut for the Italian champions at the foot of the Alps a week before the start of the new Serie A season.

"With the arrival of Ronaldo our expectations are higher for the Champions League".

After he had finished with his autograph duty, Ronaldo put his game face on and only took eight minutes to score his first goal in black and white.

He played a part in the second goal as well, putting Riccardo Capellini under pressure as a low cross came into the box and the Juve youngster put past his own goalkeeper.

The 33-year-old proved too much for Juve's youth players, laying on winger Douglas Costa for a shot that crashed off the post and creating the first of Paulo Dybala's brace thanks to a shot that was well saved by young stopper Leonardo Loria.

The party atmosphere in rural Piedmont threatened to get out of hand as a fan seized on the opportunity to meet Ronaldo by running on the pitch to take a picture with him during the game.
