Demi Lovato 'steered towards rehab' as release from hospital looms

The singer is reportedly set to be discharged from the hospital a week and a half after being admitted.

According to TMZ, Demi - who has been in hospital over a week - is due to be released "this week" and friends are urging her to go back to rehab after the overdose nearly killed her.

It's impossible to make another person go to rehab or live a sober life, but many of those close to Lovato are urging the "Sober" singer to seek help after her overdose on July 24.

Demi's team is nervous for her decision on whether she'll go back to rehab or not.

The model, who has previously opened up about her battles with drugs and mental illness, posted a brief video in response to the speculation and said: 'To all my friends sending me really sweet messages and letting me know that you're here for me through some tough times or whatever.

So far, this hasn't been Demi Lovato's year, but if she is not careful, it might get even worse as she is close to pushing all of her loved ones away due to her drug and alcohol addiction. "It was great for me", she said.

Sources told TMZ that the the pop star has "stabilised from her overdose", and that the plan now is to "get her out of the hospital this week".

'She could die if she doesn't, and that's not going to be on my watch that we did nothing'.

Demi, who initially refused treatment, spent eight days in the hospital dealing with complications from her overdose. But if she wants to survive, she needs to get out of this business, ' they said. Everyone just wants to help get her to a healthy place'. She can't be forced into treatment. We have no idea how she will receive the message that she desperately needs rehab.

MailOnline have contacted a representative for Demi Lovato for comment.
