Former Viking Randy Moss inducted into Hall of Fame

Owens followed through on his pledge to snub the Hall of Fame's induction ceremony.

Owens thanked everyone from his late grandmother and mother to coaches from his high school days in Alexander City, Alabama, through his time at Chattanooga and into the NFL.

This year's class includes linebacker Ray Lewis, wide receiver Randy Moss, contributor Bobby Beathard, linebacker Robert Brazile, safety Brian Dawkins, guard Jerry Kramer, linebacker Brian Urlacher and wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Owens' speech at his alma mater reiterated why he chose to skip the Hall of Fame festivities.

"When you have a veteran saavy guy that has done it, been there and utilizing my strengths that's when I started to play well", Owens said. "You were always a Hall of Famer to me.' But Momma, you are the real Hall of Famer".

"We have more commonalities than differences". The Bears have been one of the most efficient in doing so for years now, which has given them one less thing to worry about going into training camp and preseason.

"I wasn't really too pleased about it, " Owens said of the Hall of Fame's initial reaction regarding the jacket. He is a 13-time Pro Bowler, seven-time first-team All-Pro and two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2000 and 2003), and helped lead Baltimore to two Super Bowl titles (2000 and 2012), earning MVP honors in the 2000 season's game.

He acknowledged each of his National Football League teams during the speech and was critical of media members who labeled him a selfish and bad teammate, particularly during his days with the Eagles. "Many of you may be wondering why we're here instead of Canton", Owens said. "I was proud to be a Buffalo Bill in 2009, for sure", Owens said. "I love you, and for that, this is for you".
